Fya Empress Wins St. Vincent Ragga Soca Monarch 2012

St. Vincent Ragga Soca Monarch 2012
Fya Empress will bring the St. Vincent Ragga Soca Monarch title home to Tobago! 'Bam Bam Talk' sung by Lornette Nedd aka Fya Empress was good enough to take the title away from this year's second place winner Skarpyon. In third place tonight was Orande Charles aka Bomani who sang the song 'Sagga Boy'.
Fya Empress' performance was controlled and her rendition was extremely good. The only negative I had for her (same for all artistes in the region including Trinidad and Tobago) is the 'talking to the audience' during the performances.... Just sing the song please people! We want to hear how well the artiste could sing and this is not the time or place to 'sweet talk the audience'; just bring sweet music with good rendition and a strong stage performance.

I picked Skarpyon to win tonight because his song was the only one that had the elements of Soca and Reggae making it the only true 'Ragga Soca' song performed tonight. The rest of the performances could be categorized as Groovy Soca.

Bomani sang well but lacked the extra magic to make him a winner. Sagga Boy is a really sweet track but Bomani did not have what it takes to pull it off tonight. The performance did not have the hype or the extra push needed to win it all! Most people love to hate entertainers like Machel Montano but artistes like a Machel Montano know how to win on the big stage... Bomani will eventually learn the tricks of the trade to tweak his live performances to live up to the standards of his recorded music.

In the end, Fya Empress, the Vincy diva won the 'big one' and will take the title back to her home in Tobago where she resides with her husband. Well done Fya Empress and congratulations on your accomplishment!

The first three positions announced tonight were as follows:
1. Fya Empress won with her song titled,  "Bam Bam Talk"

2. Skarpyon who sang the song titled, "Wine'N"

3. Bomani who sang the song titled, "Sagga Boy"

St. Vincent Ragga Soca footnotes:
Now a little about the Vincy Ragga Soca Monarch that was won by Fya Empress. The guest artiste for the show was Konshens out of Jamaica. However, he was a big disappointment and luckily Skinny Fabulous and Machel Montano were on hand to add some life to the stage and really pumped up the audience. Take a look at what happened when Machel and Skinny came on stage - they stole the show and left Konshens in the dust!

How Yah So "Remix" (Dutty Bungle Riddim) | Peter Ross Feat. Bunji Garlin | Crop Over 2012!

Bunji Garlin teamed up with Peter Ross (Peter Ram) to ask the question 'How Yah So'! This version presented here is a remix and it clearly shows how versatile Bunji has become. This man is not resting on his iSpaniard laurels. Peter Ross and Bunji Garlin sound well together and should do some serious damage for Crop Over 2012.

Crop Over 2012 - Bunji Garlin - Wedding Ring (Dutty Bungle Riddim)

This Madderific song should be called the Carnival Riddim with Bunji going the extra mile to tell everyone about what this woman wants... no long term thing just something nice and of course the 'Wedding Ring'. This one will surely have women latching on the men who don't care for a long term thing... just a fling! Crop Over Fetes will be re-labeled Madderific just because Bunji Garlin says so!

"Coming Over" (HD Remix) | KES | Sound Lion Remix

Sound Lion has decided that it is time that KES the band should roar once again. This road mix should bring some new appeal to a really sweet track but this time for the Carnivals 'up the islands'. This song has the right message... a message that rings true for those who live in North America and are heading home to St. Vincent, Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada and Barbados.

Kes has the vibe on lockdown and now Sound Lion has added his 'Skillz Set' to this really sweet track. The remix is almost five minutes long and still sounds like it is too short... Enjoy the music of KES remixed for the road by Sound Lion!

"Road Calling" | Tizzy & El-A-Kru | Antigua 2012

This one comes to you from the Precision Production Sound Factory that keeps churning out hit after hit after hit. This one was written for the road and is titled "Road Calling".  If the road is not calling you then it has to be the spirit of carnival and, to be honest, this song brings out the spirit of Carnival in every West Indian's Soul! However, it is in Antigua that the vibe of this song will first take root. Today you have the opportunity to listen and absorb the vibe of this call to the road.
This one is sweet and should have you grooving to the beat of sweet music from the team at Precision. Tizzy did her thing on this track and it should be celebrated 'on the road for Antigua Carnival 2012.

'Mystie Thongs' who writes the music releases for Precision expressed the opinion that, "Precision Productions majestically demonstrate their mastery of the groovy Soca tune in this track, adding just enough spice in their tempting melodies to keep any Mas player going until their beloved season has passed.

This song specifically created for Antigua’s 2012 Carnival, has all the trademarks of becoming a classic in this genre no music lover could ever forget."

The material in quotation was taken from the music blast sent by Precision Production and is reproduced here because the author believes that the statements are on spot!

"Paint & Mud" | Marcus

It is J'ouvert morning and you know it is time to 'paint them up... better yet. it time to rub up the paint and mud on each other; yes 'rub it down' with oil and powder! This song is wicked and will rock you into a musical dance frenzy. The melody is infectious and you will surely want to hear this one with some 'sours' swirling around your brain.
Paint and Mud, the song is the type of song with music that puts you in the mood to simply enjoy the vibes because you know that 'the song is sweet for spite'! This is a release coming out of Trinidad and Tobago, 'an after de carnival jam', that should do well for Carnivals 'up the islands'. If this song was released for Trinbago Carnival 2012 it would have done some serious fete damage    on the twin island Soca Republic. This is a highly recommended track and after listening you will conclude that this is a seriously sweet and wicked track!

Realigned Trinidad & Tobago Government Cabinet Posts

"There is no room for egos or personal agenda. Every single appointment made by me has received the full support of those selected.

Those words were spoken by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago as she announced the names and offices assigned to the newly realigned Cabinet. The mandate remains the same... fix things and get the country on the right path! The country is nervous and not happy with the way the PP government has handled the economy. These changes come just after David Abdullah of the MSJ (Movement for Social Justice) resigned as a government senator and removed the MSJ as a partner in the government.

The opposition PNM has already expressed their concerns regarding the appointment of Jack Warner to the post of National Security. This means that Brigadier John Sandy is gone! Here is the situation that will be discussed regarding this appoint... Mr. Warner has been placed in charge of the protective services that is currently investigating him (Mr. Warner). Do you consider this a conflict of interest?

Larry Howai (former CEO of State-owned First Citizens Bank) replaces Winston Dookeran as the Minister of Finance and the Economy. I am surprised that Winston Dookeran was removed from the Finance Ministry. Finance has always been Mr. Dookeran's forte!

Winston Gypy Peters has been removed from the Culture Ministry and placed in Community Development. Mr. Peters, a Calypsonian, was expected to do good things for culture but has not done enough to keep that post. In his place comes Dr. Lincoln Douglas. I wish him success... he is from my hometown of Arima.

I don't think that anyone was surprised that Marlene Coudray got a Ministerial post after crossing party lines and joining up with the UNC! She has replaced the outspoken Verna St. Rose Greaves.  I wonder if those who watched her performance as Mayor of San Fernando think that she has what it takes to succeed as a Minister?

The following is a listing of the newly appointed persons and the Ministerial portfolios they now command.

The realigned Cabinet includes:

Minister of National Security: Jack Warner assisted by Colin Partap.

Minister of Legal Affairs: Prakash Ramadhar.

Attorney General: Anand Ramlogan.

Ministry of People and Social Development: Dr. Glenn Ramadharsingh, and Vernella Alleyne-Toppin.

Minister of Education: Dr. Tim Gopeesingh.

Minister of Housing: Dr. Roodal Moonilal.

Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development: Marlene Coudray.

Minister of Justice: Herbert Volney.

Minister of Public Administration: Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan.

Minister of Energy: Kevin Ramnarine.

Minister of Labor, Small and Micro Enterprise Development: Errol McLeod.

Minister of Transport: Chandresh Sharma.

Minister of Sports: Anil Roberts.

Minister of Planning: Dr. Bhoe Tewarie.

Minister of Public Utilities: Nizam Baksh.

Minister of Tobago Development: Dr. Delmon Baker.

Ministry of Local Government: Dr. Suruj Rambachan, Rudranath Indarsingh.

Ministry of Works and Infrastructure: Emmanuel George, Stacy Roopnarine.

Minister of Arts and Multiculturism: Dr. Lincoln Douglas.

Minister of Health: Dr. Fuad Khan.

Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister: Rodger Samuel.

Minister of Tertiary Education: Fazal Karim.

Minister of Tourism: Stephen Cadiz.

Minister of Community Development: Winston Peters.

Ministry of Food Production: Devant Maharaj, Jairam Seemungal.

Minister of Science and Technology: Dr. Rupert Griffith.

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Winston Dookeran.

Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment: Vasant Bharath.

Ministry of Environment and Water Resources: Ganga Singh and Ramona Ramdial.

Ministry of National Diversity and Social Integration: Clifton de Coteau and Embau Moheni.

Minister of Communications: Jamal Mohammed.

Minister of Finance and the Economy: Larry Howai.

Deputy Speaker: Nela Khan.

"Beads Riddim" | Erphaan Alves & Fede | Trini Dancehall

These two tracks come to you from Platta Studio and were produced by Nutation Productions. Trinidadians love Dancehall music and these two songs should get good rotation on the local stations.
Erphaan Alves has solidified his status and is now a well know artiste in Trinidad who is beginning to spread his talents. Fede, in my opinion, sounds better on the riddim but then again you may thnk differently. The tracks are well done and should be on your mp3 play list. It is very amazing that at this time when everyone is flooding the market with new Soca releases that Erphaan decided to give 'Dancehall ah Bligh'!

Soufrière Riddim | Precision Productions for SLU 2012

Precision Productions Presents | Fiery Soufrière Riddim for St. Lucia Carnival 2012

This Riddim will stand out not because the lyrics are special (lyrics are typical for Carnival songs) but because the entire riddim takes everyone back to a time when brass arrangements were special and ruled the day. Today most of the music riddims are created in a small room with one creative person adding all the instrumentation via electronic manipulation. Live instruments (traditional or one can say old school instrumentation) always have that natural sound. In the case of this riddim, if you listen to the track titled 'Brass fuh Spite' you will be surprised that the music sounds like a live performance! Listen to the music, turn up the volume, close your eyes and you may just find yourself at the Savannah!

Now to the faster tracks on the riddim. The drumming... the drumming is fast paced and reminds me of Kernal Roberts. Everyone would have a favorite, obviously but I do believe that Destra Garcia handled the speed of the drum riddim better than her male counterparts. That is just my opinion and I am sure those who love listening to Alpha or Teddyson may disagree with me. However, I have to say that Destra has to be careful with her renditions because this one has a familiar feel to it and this has nothing to do with the music but with Destra's delivery of the lyrics.

Double Entendre is the hallmark of the song delivered by Alpha. I guess that 'Mista Vybe' and Kasey were in a mischievous mood when they penned this song. If you are a fan of Wenhal 'Alpha' Gerald then you will surely enjoy  "D Wetter D Better"!

The song by Teddyson may have been written to win the road march competition in St. Lucia. The song has all the elements of a bacchanal, mash up the place on carival day! Whatever the reason is I get the feeling that Teddyson will contend for the road march with this one. The song, lyrical content and musical contributions have cause everyone to say the Precision has 'Gone Clear' with Teddyson in SLU!

There you have it... Old school style with today's Soca riddim. I saw in the press release that the essense of Zouk is embedded in the riddim but I don't sense that... I get an old school brass vibe with today's fusion of music that is called Soca...

Final Thoughts:
I like "Brass Fuh Spite" the best of all the songs (it is all instruments) on the riddim. I guessed it is because I like the live feeling I got when I listened to that track. The rest of the songs are very good but not special. I know the live instruments gave the songs a 'different feel' and as such make them stand out to the rest of music being released. In time the rest of the producers will realize that this it the path to future success that will make the music appealing to everyone not just the young listeners.

"Feel Free" | Kevon Carter

This song, by Kevon Carter, is titled Feel Free but has been listed as a Soca track... this is not Soca! This one has the feel of what has been labeled 'Island Pop' in Trinidad. This version of Island Pop by the Trinis has a Soca flavor but is fused with techno sounds. This song by Kevon has that 'Trini Island Pop' feel to it. Kevon has a very smooth silky style when singing and this one does not stray from what he usually delivers. I like this song and so to will you... Enjoy the music!

"Got It For You" | Toya | St. Lucia 2012

Toya has a very sweet voice, a smooth singing style but this song does not have the 'oomph x-factor' that I expected from Precision Productions. The music  production sounds safe but does not have the 'in your face' slap that is expected for a Carnival track. This one sounds like a  mid year out of Carnival release. This is a really well written song that is clean and well sung by Toya but it is surely not a Carnival song!

Now having said that I have to say that this is the kind of song one expects to hear from Soca singers year round... this is the future of Soca music but not a song that would have any kind of impact of a Carnival celebration.  I expect that this review would not be well received but there is a silver lining embedded in the post... I like the song and the production and it should do well out of season but not in a Carnival season!

Come and take a wine with the Bajan Soca Queen who once ruled the Soca as the best female Soca singer. This is a very simple but sweet track that has a very nice groove to it. Alison sings this track comfortably and shows why many still look at her at the one to beat in a field that now has many female contributors. This is a very good song from Alison... get it for your mp3 player and make sure that you are ready to 'bend yuh waist and push back' when the music starts. Remember the name of the song - "Baddy".

Did she say Baddy?  Yes she did and that is the name of the song! Someone already joked about this after listening to the track; so just in case you were curious 'Baddy' is a direct reference to 'Body'... So show them your Body, sorry I meant to say 'Baddy'!

"On The Road" | Tian Winter & Teddyson John | 2012

The song presented for this post is one that got a taste of the islands. We have talent from Antigua, St. Lucia and Trinidad that came together to produce a track titled "On The Road". From Antigua we have the sweet voice of Tian Winter and from St. Lucia comes the leader of the pack, Teddyson John.

From the twin republic of Trinidad and Tobago comes the production team called Precision Productions with Kasey Phillips also collaborating on the lyrics with Patrick "Mysta Vybe" Gordon. Vybe is the acronym for “Versatile Young Black Entertainer.... Well the music produced by this team was done with class and the result is just musically sweet!

This is clearly a song that should make waves for both carnival in Antigua and St. Lucia and if the Vincy massive pay attention to this one then I have no doubt that it should also do well for Vincy Mas. This one looks like it will have longevity and should also make waves on the North American Carnival scene later this year!

"Real Love" (Slo Wine Riddim) | Kes The Band | Crop Over 2012

Damn Kes has done it again but this one is for the Bajans to get 'Some Real Kind ah Love'! Dwaingerous has produced a really sweet riddim with Patrice Roberts and now Kes from Trinidad doing their thing for Crop Over! I am absolutely certain that this is one that will become a favorite for the Summer... Sticky, sticky if you like to wine and groove to sweet music... I love it!

What has happened to Patrice Roberts? Damn this princess is producing some seriously wicked tracks for 2012. It feels like 'after Trinidad' things are just getting better! Her Vincy release "A Little Wine" was just a teaser. This one released for Barbados Crop Over is sweet. Listen to "Touch Me"... It has a sweet groove and it sexy as hell but not rude at all. Patrice has come of age and because of her recent releases has become my favorite female Soca singer! Loving it!

Now if you think that she is standing still then you have to take a listen to her on the dancehall riddim... that too is sweet. However, we are on the Soca music train now because of the various Caribbean Carnivals playing out in the region St. Vincent, Grenada, St. Lucia, Antigua and North America to come soon.

"Kahin Naja" (Bruk It Down) | Rishi Ram & Brenti Feat. Devika Ram of Melobugz
I guess you thought that the Chutney crew was asleep while the Soca movement kept pumping out music. Well don't worry anymore because we have a chutney track titled Kahin Naja that was produced by the well known "Maha Studios" - it is a hot and   rhythmically sweet track!

This song is a true fusion of our cultural elements... Chutney Soca, East Indian style singing, and true Caribbean fusion elements that "Bruk It Down". You get your Soca and Dancehall style wrapped in a Chutney rhythm. Watch out for this one to do serious damage in Toronto, Trinidad and Guyana... in fact anywhere there is a strong community of West Indians... of East Indian heritage.

These singers and musicians are multi-talented and have the edge musically on the Soca producers who choose not to use the Chutney elements in the music. Lord Shorty aka 'Ras Shorty I' used those very elements to create Soca Music (of course it has changed and the Indian elements have been removed today). Shorty was had the foresight and his fusion has given the world Soca... look where we are today!

"Rough Stuff" | Destra Garcia | Crop Over 2012

These Trinidad and Tobago artistes love their Crop Over more than any other Carnival outside of Trinidad in the region. I have been posting songs by  Trini Artistes but somehow managed to miss out on Destra's offering. I still love Patrice's offering but this is Destra and she has her place in the list of leading ladies. The Trinidad ladies are applying serious pressure on lady Alison Hinds in her homeland... times have surely changed. Enjoy Destra's offering for Crop Over 2012; the song is titled "Rough Stuff" - don't play with Destra now, she aims to please with some wicked rough wine!

"Whole Day" | Terencia "TC" Coward | Crop Over 2012

This artiste has successfully made the transition from Calypso to Soca. However, Lenette Terencia Coward-Thompson whose sobriquet is "TC" has also dabbled in R&B, Jazz and Reggae music. In 2009 she won the double crowns of 'Sweet Soca Monarch' and the 'Party Monarch'.  Sometimes being in the right place or in this case working with the right production company can propel an artists career... maybe this production could be the change that would help promote TC's music in the region!

This year she has teamed up with Precision Productions out of Trinidad to produce a very sweet and groovy song titled "Whole Day". Now if you take a close look at the production notes you will notice the 'old man' of the business Mr. Kenny Phillips lending his talents on Guitars and Brass Arrangements to this production.

Teamwork is the operative word today and when Trinis and Bajans get together good things happen. This song is a good example of this type of collaboration. A lady with a sweet voice and the brilliance of Precision Productions with some help from 'old man' Kenny Phillips and you have a hit on your hand. Team work always leads to good things and this is a fine example of good music production and a wonderful rendition done by a lady who has surely paid her dues. Enjoy the music!

"Pushin It" | Edwin Yearwood | Barbados Crop Over 2012

Some call him a living legend while others feel complete when they hear the voice of Edwin Yearwood... the man with the voice, the General did not disappoint with this one titled "Pushng It". Let me say this from the start.... the song is good but the music needs some work! Now don't go running about the place saying that Trinizagada does not like the song. As a matter of fact I do believe that this song has the potential to be a 'Monsta' hit for Crop Over 2012 but it needs some tweaking.

Now to be honest when I first heard the track I was not enamored with it for one simple reason... the music that accompanied the vocals. Something just did not feel right and I was saying to myself that this music is lacking something. Then the feedback came saying that this musical style is typical for the 'Producer' aka Monstapiece. The feedback claimed that Monstapiece 'always keeps it simple on the rhythms'. The people who admire Edwin's singing style were quick to defend then rave about the song.  I still feel that the producers could have done better with the music.

Do you think that the song is 'Simple, smooth and sweet'? Well if that is your thinking please leave a comment. If you think that they could improve on the song then make some noise and get them to re-work the music. It is sad to hear good singing fall on the wayside because of the producers need to 'keep it simple'.

I guess in this day and age of the riddim maker people have gone to the electronic generators to save on spending on 'live musicians'... this is a shame because some really good singing could come to a screeching halt because of some 'force ripe riddim'.

I believe that those who love the work of Edwin Yearwood would not take kindly to my criticism of the man's work but I still believe that the music needs some work to make this song into a hit for Crop Over 2012.

5Z1 Production Presents "Baby Riddim" | Trinidad Dancehall

What happens when you get conscious lyrics mixed in to a very wicked riddim? Well you get sweet music and what is even better it is music coming out of Trinidad. Time and again we have heard so many criticisms regarding Trinidad's love for Dancehall over Soca Music and in many cases one has no choice but to cringe especially when the radio stations pull the plug and drop what is commonly known as the 'Soca Switch'.
Well I have to say that the Soca artistes, except for some really good tracks this year, have not helped themselves much with all the wine and jam tracks. 5Z1 Productions have delivered and, in this case, one can only groove to the riddim... this is a sweet riddim with six sweet like sugarcane songs.

Some of the names on the riddim may be new to you but with Fireball leading the way with 'Cradle Rockers' the riddim should get 'nuff respect' and airplay needed to get this riddim the much deserved airplay it deserves.

These singers have done well... Yes, they can sing sweetly! I heard the riddim on Wack Radio (Sleep Over with DJ Devi) and immediately posted about the music... Now that I have the tracks I had to present this follow up  post and present the music for your listening pleasure. Please don't forget to leave feedback on 5Z1 Facebook page.

So you have been disenchanted because you haven't heard any sweet music that exudes love and understanding... You love your music but all you are getting is "Jump and Wave" and Power tracks for wining and Carnival parades. However, you long for music that will live on after the festival is over. "My Love" | KES

If you love to listen to KES the band with lead singer Kes Dieffenthaller, then this one will hit the spot! This is Kes on a dancehall rhythm called the Summer Wave Rddim. This is a dancehall riddim with a Trini style singing vibe.

This one is already a fan favorite and tonight I was asked if I liked the song by a friend in the Wack Radio Shoutbox... Well after listening to the music I have to agree with Lenny that the track is sweet! This song will do well in parties and is one for your music player... Surely this is Kes's Summer Song - Enjoy it!

"Bam Bam" (Trouble) | Denise Belfon | Crop Over 2012

This song is wicked; this song will mash up the Crop Over Festival for 2012. The song has what it takes, energy and the riddim is a killer. Everyone loves the Jab Riddim and the cow horn adds a special flavor to the music. However, it is the energy brought to the table by Denise Belfon that rocks this Riddim. No one will say that Denise did not bring it this year after listening to this one... it is the best Crop Over song that I have heard to date!

I have already posted the songs on this riddim but after listening to this song a few times I decided that it deserves an independent post. This is the best release Denise has for 2012. The music she released for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2012 did not get the attention of the party shakers but this one is definitely one that will cross the waters and mash up Carnivals in the region. I expect big things from this song... I love it! Kudos to Denise and Platta Studios... Well done!

"Crazy Jab Riddim" | Barbados Crop Over Soca 2012

Jab is the craze for 2012 in the Caribbean region! Now don't make too much noise because you might get the 'Greenze possee' upset. Grenada is the home of Jab but Platta Studios have released a Jab riddim with artistes from Trinidad jumping on to score points for Crop Over 2012. I posted earlier that I did not like the Erphaan Alves on the riddim. I guess some will be upset but if you happen to listen to the Denise Belfon track and then listen to the Erphaan Alves effort you will understand why I made the comment... Denise's song is strong and pumping. I know that it is the same riddim but she brought real energy to this riddim.

Now when I first listened to Don't Play Wid Me Skinny immediately came to mind but everyone on this riddim will fall behind Denise Belfon's Bam Bam Trouble - Denise rules this Riddim! She is boss on this riddim. Take a listen and leave a comment on the song that you like best... Enjoy the music!

"Baby Riddim" Radio Premiere | 5Z1 Production Trinidad

This evening on Wack Radio 901 Fm DJ Devie featured the newly released Baby Riddim produced by 5Z1 located on Frederick Street Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. This Riddim is really good and the singers did a very good job with sweet lyrics and music that is a Trini fusion of dancehall, reggae, steelpan and sweet Trini accents!

The following is the article released today by the Trinidad Guardian Media.
"A new riddim out of T&T will be unleashed today by a group of young men on a mission to reach the youth in society through music. The group, 5Z1 Productions, says their Baby riddim features a number of artistes, among them, Fireball, Zion Star, Myron B, King David, Ayanna Laborde, Lyndon Andrews and Jah Angel. Describing the new production as a fusion of dancehall and reggae embedded with elements of T&T’s steelpan music, in an interview founding member of the group and producer, Lyndon Andrews said, “This is merely the first of many projects in the pipeline.”  The group has been operating for approximately five years and their mission has been to provide quality music while promoting positive values to listeners across the world.

Andrews said they have never turned down an artiste. “We are always willing to work with artistes, even those artistes that other studios sometimes reject.” He said at 5Z1 Productions, the aim is always to make their clients comfortable and to get the best possible result. Andrews explained that the team came from a religious background and are able to work well, even with gospel artistes. Most of the 5Z1 Productions members, he said, are currently studying music at Costaatt and at NAPA through the University of Trinidad and Tobago. The Baby riddim will deliver tracks like Fireball’s Cradle Rockers, King David’s Don’t Play With My Mind and Ayanna La Borde’s As You Wish this week."

"Like A Bajan" (Do Me Dat)|Erphaan Alves  on the Crazy Jab Riddim for Barbados Crop Over 2012!
This has not been a good day for me and the music I listened to for Crop Over 2012. The first song came from Destra Garcia and I did not like it! Well this one comes from Erphaan Alves and some people are saying "chune mad"... I am not going down that road.
OK, I will say this about the song by Erphaan... I did not like it initially because it did not have the energy I expected. Why do I think this way? Well you need to listen to Denise Belfon on this same riddim and that is where the tide turned... she really did a job on this riddim! Now don't misunderstand me, I like to listen to Erphaan but on this riddim Denise is boss!

"Rough Stuff" by Destra Garcia | "Sample Mania Riddim" for Barbados Crop Over 2012!
This is new music from Destra Garcia on the Sample Mania Riddim for the Barbados Crop Over Festival 2012. The Soca Diva is not leaving the Bajans hanging and has delivered a cute track for the festival. Take a listen and see if this is one that you will be jumping and having fun with for this Summer!

Destra fans won't like my take on this song because I can't find anything to like about it! This song does not make the grade and it is a big disappointment after she released so many entertaining songs for Trinidad's carnival 2012. This one simply does not make the grade. The music coming out for Crop Over 2012 is not up to scratch this year!
